It's A MF Heatwave.

My apologies, everyone, I was team "NO SLEEP," last week and I completely forgot to write a blog post. I was going to catch up on Friday but then I figured I'd just go with it and take the week off. I have slowly come to love Tuesday night's because of Volleyball! I joined this team by way of my cousin, Justine, and have quickly fallen in love with each and every team member. New friends are THE BEST. We have our good days and bad days in regards to how we're playing but we always have so much fun. I'm sad we only have 3 weeks left, but grateful I've found these new homies. But, they are to blame for my blog-o-sphere absence last week. ;)

It's been RULL HOT in NYC and I can compare it to something because I lived TWO summers in Florida, which was fucking HOT. It's honestly taking all of my energy and inspo and even writing right now, I'm struggling to find something to share about so, I plan to just be honest....

How do we find motivation when all you want to do is lay in the AC? Here is what I've been doing...hoping it helps!

1) Watermelon. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. AKA Hydrating with electrolytes and natural sugars from fruit! It feels so good.

2) Cut out unnecessary energy zaps. People, places, things, commutes, etc. Anything you dread doing? Just don't do it. It seems things are doubly taxing when it's hot out. While I'm not advocating for not showing up at work if you hate it, there is beauty in not working extra hours if you don't have to, or taking a Friday off to go to your friends pool or the beach, or lay on the floor in AC. I'm grateful everyday going to teach yoga gives me energy, so continue to find those things for you.

3) Stop judging or berating yourself if you miss a workout or cancel plans. It's HOT. Be kind to yourself.

4) Eat the damn ice cream.

5) Find a routine for sleep. Even if you have difficulty falling asleep get in bed at the same time everynight, and wake up at the same hour each morning.

6) I saw this lady on the subway the other day with a fan that plugged into the phone and ran by phone battery. I don't know where she got that, but I NEED IT. The subways are ridiculous and she was straight chillin. Hook a sister up.

7) This is not a plug, but heated yoga helps. It helps us to tolerate to some degree the heightened temps. I promise I promise, I'm not bias, ok maybe a little, but I only say this because I feel it in my body. It's truly takes the drama out of the heatwave.

8) There are so many fun indoor activities to do in the summer; bowling, movies, adult arcades. exploring new restaurants, broadway shows, etc. Don't let the heatwave limit the fun you can still have!

9) Watermelon.

Goodluck out there, friends! XO
